Ms. Leykam

Heather Leykam

Principal

Heather Leykam is the proud principal of P53K. Born and raised in NYC Ms. Leykam has been an educator for almost 20 years. She was welcomed as the Principal of P53K in November of 2010 and has been growing her practice ever since. Ms. Leykam holds a BS in Speech and Theater as well as a MS in Education and Special Education as well as a MS in School Administration. When not expanding the learning at P53K she can be seen studying for her PhD!

Ms. Blutstein

Amy Blutstein

Assistant Principal

Amy Blutstein has been part of the P53K organization since 1986, the year school opened. A Brooklyn native, Ms. Blutstein started her career with the NYC Department of Education first as a paraprofessional and then as a Special Education Teacher with City Wide Programs. Ms. Blutstein has a BS in General and Special Education, an MS in Learning Disabilities and Advanced Certification in Leadership and Supervision. Across her career, Ms. Blutstein has had the unique opportunity to be a key part of the expansion of services and community-based work opportunities and in house class businesses that the organization has developed for students. As a leader, she enjoys supporting staff, collaborating with teachers and supporting the P53K Theater Program When not at P53K you can find Ms. Blutstein spending time with her family and friends, traveling or just relaxing and sitting on the beach eating plenty of snacks!

Ms. Drobka

Jessica Drobka

Assistant Principal

Jessica Drobka has been an Assistant Principal with P53K since 2015. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ms. Drobka made her way to NYC via the Teaching Fellows and started her teaching career in District 75. Prior to joining the P53K team first as an Instructional Coach and then an Assistant Principal, Ms. Drobka also served as a Behavior Specialist for several years with the District 75 Office of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and School Safety. Ms. Drobka holds a BA in Psychology, a MS in Special Education, and Advanced Certification in School Leadership. Ms. Drobka’s work with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports as well as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools is an important part of what she brings to her everyday work with teachers and students. A lifelong lover of learning, and adventure, when not in school you can find Ms. Drobka cooking up travel plans to places near and far with her husband and friends.

Ms. Malone

Alison Malone

Assistant Principal

Alison Malone has been an Assistant Principal at P53K since 2013. Ms. Malone began her teaching career at 721R in Staten Island and has taught students in 12:1:4, 6:1:1 and 12:1:1 ratios. Prior to beginning her career in education, Ms. Malone was a Recreation Therapist in a long term care facility, where she became Director of Therapeutic Recreation. She holds a BA in Recreation Administration, an MA in Special Education, an Advanced Certificate in Severe and Multiple Disabilities and School Leadership Certification through LEAP. Ms. Malone’s work with adults with special needs led her to value the impact that education has on positive adult outcomes. She is married with 3 children, and when not at P53K, Ms. Malone can be found hanging out with her family, friends and 2 dogs. She also enjoys working out at The Max Challenge or watching reality TV, with Survivor being her favorite.

Ms. Wu

Joyce Wu

Assistant Principal

Joyce Wu is a second career Educator, currently serving as an Assistant Principal at P53K. She started out as a teacher in the NYC Teaching Fellows program at P53K teaching elementary students with emotional disturbance for many years before becoming a unit teacher, then an instructional coach and finally an Assistant Principal. She holds a BS in Accounting and Information Systems, MA in Christian Education, MS in Education, and a School Building Leadership license. She is a mother of four children, therefore a master at multitasking. She enjoys good food over an Excel spreadsheet listening to Broadway tunes.
